Governor Sununu Kicks Off Salvation Army State Wide Kettle Campaign
Concord, New Hampshire – The Salvation Army will kick off its Annual Christmas Kettle Effort for the state of New Hampshire when Governor Chris Sununu brings greetings in a brief ceremony to be held at the Statehouse in the Executive Council Chambers in Concord on Monday, November 27, 10:30 a.m.
A Salvation Army Brass Ensemble will also be part of the ceremony playing Christmas carols. The familiar red kettles will soon be seen regularly at stores, malls and other locations statewide until December 24th.
“The holiday season is a time for all Granite Staters to come together and show that a deep sense of caring and a spirit of giving is deeply embedded in every one of us,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “The Salvation Army Statewide Kettle Campaign is an important holiday tradition that aides Granite Staters in need throughout the state.”
For 126 years, Salvation Army red kettles around the world have been linked to the Christmas season and to compassion for the needy.
The kettles are responsible for much more than atmosphere and nostalgia during the Christmas season. Last year, funds donated at these kettles enabled The Salvation Army to help close to 52,600 individuals statewide with programs, homeless shelters, general and holiday assistance. The Salvation Army provided food, clothing, utilities and emergency disaster aid. Also, children were provided the opportunity to attend The Salvation Army’s Camp Sebago.
There are 9 Salvation Army Corps (facilities) in New Hampshire that offer services and programs for children, adults and seniors.
