The Salvation Army To Speak At Anti-Human Trafficking Event At The State House
Who: The Salvation Army will participate in the 3rd Annual Anti-Human Trafficking Day at the State House.
Major Annette Lock of the Portland Corps will bring remarks as well as others on the efforts to combat human trafficking.
What: The Salvation Army is deeply committed to the modern-day fight against human trafficking (for sexual and labor purposes) and forms of commercial sexual exploitation innately linked to sexual trafficking. This commitment emerges from both The Salvation Army's mission - to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination - and is rooted in the organization's early history.
Why: The Salvation Army has a long history of reaching out to women in desperate circumstances to offer them love, acceptance and practical help. In 2012, this history began to repeat itself, when an Anti-Human Trafficking Ministry was started by The Salvation Army in the city of Portland, Maine.
