15 December 2020

For the seventh consecutive year The Salvation Army will hold a Kettle Blitz Day throughout Northern New England on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

The Divisional Kettle Blitz is a one-day competition among Salvation Army corps in hopes to increase donations since the division is 48% behind our goal compared to last year’s income at this time.

Due to the pandemic The Salvation Army is seeing a significant decrease in funds raised through the iconic red kettles. Every donation provides help and hope to those in need.  Your support is urgently needed to ensure that services and programs continue during the holidays and throughout the year.  In addition to giving directly to the red kettle, The Salvation Army has provided other options to donate this year.

  • Give any amount by texting “KETTLE” to 91999
  • Virtual Red Kettle – RescueChristmas.org
  • Ask Amazon Alexa to donate by saying, “Alexa, donate to The Salvation Army,” then specify the amount
  • Digitally with Apple Pay or Google Pay at any Salvation Army kettle

The Salvation Army is encouraging the public to help the organization meet its annual goal by contributing generously during “Kettle Blitz” Day on Thursday, December 17th at red kettles or online.

This year The Salvation Army has implemented protocols to ensure the health and safety of our Bell Ringers and supporters.

The Salvation Army set a goal of $1,766,000 in its Northern New England Division which covers Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Last year, there were more than 300 Red Kettles strategically located at major retailers.  This year because of COVID The Salvation Army has lost half of its kettle locations.

“Kettle Blitz” Day is intended to draw attention to society’s casualties, individuals and families who are struggling to survive. The Salvation Army assists them by providing food, clothing and, of course, toys for youngsters at Christmas. Last year in Northern New England, The Salvation Army assisted 95,000 individuals during the holidays and throughout the year.

The following Salvation Army Corps will be competing in the Kettle “Blitz” Day – stop by and support your community kettle, all funds stay locally. You may also make donations at any other kettles in your community.
