Lewiston, ME – The Salvation Army is addressing a great need in the community with a children’s Summer Food Service Program.  Children ages 18 and under are invited to The Salvation Army facility at 67 Park Street for a nutritious dinner on Saturday’s from 4:00 – 5:00 pm starting on June 30^th through August 25^th.

“We are glad to be a feeding site to help alleviate hunger for children in our area,” expressed Lieutenant Daniel Johnson.

According to a US Department of Agriculture report Maine ranks as the 7^th worst state in the nation for food insecurity.  Also the USDA says more than 16% of Maine households have limited access to adequate food.

The Salvation Army Lewiston Corps serves people living in the cities of Lewiston and Auburn.  The organization has ministered to the needs of residents since 1885 and values its charitable role in communities they serve.
