A Thank You Note
To the wonderful people behind the Salvation Army/Coats for Kids Program:
I am the Salvation Army Representative for four units, including Norway, Oxford, Bethel, and Mechanic Falls, Maine. For the past several years I have hosted coat giveaways in those communities to distribute coats to the folks who need them. The coats that are collected through the Coats for Kids program for the Salvation Army to distribute are a true godsend to the people in Western Maine.
I work closely with families in need, and this gesture is heartwarming to both body and soul. People are so grateful to find warm coats for their families to protect them from the elements, I get the pleasure of seeing their faces light up when they find a warm coat for themselves or for a loved one.
As a Maine native, I can say that we live in a beautiful part of the world, but our winter cold can feel cruel to those who do not have the items they need to protect them from the cold. Many families struggle to meet their most basic needs, and this is one way in which we can provide immediate relief. The warm coats help people to feel warm as they go about their lives to work,to school, and the generosity behind the gift lets people know that they are cared for.
I am thrilled to play a small part in this wonderful program that is a true demonstration of warmth and caring.
Thank you!
Shannon Moxcey,
Salvation Army Representative
