A place for hope and new beginnings for all men who can benefit from its programs and it is offered at no cost to those who participate. They are helped through a Christian program for rehabilitation of the mind and regeneration of the spirit.
Each summer The Salvation Army of Greater Portland sends over 140 kids to Camp Sebago located on Sebago Lake in Standish, ME. Sign-ups will begin in the month of April. For more information, please call Ruth Stewart at 774-4172.
A variety of services and programs are provided that impact families and individuals, young and old. These would include Community Care Ministries, Women's Ministries, Men's Program, etc. along with special events that foster community growth and involvement.
The Salvation Army responds to emergencies and other diasters in the Greater Portland Area with a canteen and volunteers. Victims are also eligible for limited assistance via vouchers and our thrift stores.
Each Thanksgiving we provide hundreds of households with food assistance, and still hundreds more during Christmas along with gifts to those who would otherwise go without.
Individuals ages 55+ are welcome to become members of our Center for Healthy Aging. Each week we have exciting activities and presentations, along with the opportunity to spend time with friends and maybe even make some new ones! For more information, please contact Janet at 774-4172.
Helping people in time of need is the work of The Salvation Army. Beyond the basic assistance (i.e. food or clothing), the staff listens, counsels and provides referral services to effect a long-term solution for changed lives.
An exciting program for individuals or families interested in learning ways to move forward with life. Class sessions are two hours long and include subjects such as meal planning and cooking, budgeting, stress managment, finding your career, parenting and simple, affordable ways to keep your house clean. Other options include ESL and computer classes. This program is free of charge.
Join us each Sunday to worship. Sunday school begins at 10:00 a.m. and our service at 11:00 a.m. During the week we have other programs and special events as announced.
