When he was called by God to take to the streets of London, he quickly realized the need to fill the stomach and clean the body before the message of Salvation could be heard. Still today, our mission remains the same, extending the love of Christ through a cup of cold water in His name. Relieving hunger with a bag of food, helping the family maintain the basic necessities of life heat and shelter with dignity and a desire to help bring the family back to self sufficiency. In addition to direct assistance, we offer spiriual counselling, referral to other agencies within the community and educational opportunities all designed to help with dignity and respect. Applications are received between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm Monday through Friday at our Community Center Office 67 Park St. Lewiston, Me. Call 783-0801 for further information. Seasonal Assistance Programs Holidays are a special time at The Salvation Army when we raise funds through our "Red Kettle" campaign and provide Christmas Cheer for many families in our community from Toys to "Coats for Kids" and special Holiday Meals.
